2018 Ones To Watch #11 – KYKO

KYKO

KYKO and his band offer both an incredible live set and immersive songs which have the power to transport you out of miserable England and into a tropical paradise with his indie-pop vibe and atmospheric tracks.

March 2017 saw the release of his ‘Wildlife’ EP, including hits ‘Horizon’, ‘Drive’, ‘Nature’ and ‘Dive In’. KYKO managed to rock last year by touring with Bad Sounds, playing Latitude Festival, supporting Clean Cut Kid, having a 4-date headline tour and being a part of BBC Introducing in which he played ‘Live at the Lexington’.

His most streamed track ‘Dive In’ has over 3.5 million hits on Spotify alone, showing his potential as an emerging voice in the music scene. This infectious track features catchy hooks and buoyant yet soothing vocals accompanied by vibrant and addictive sounds. His sound feels experimental yet refined, with a distinct feel unlike that of many mainstream artists.

At just 20 years old Scott Verrill, the man behind KYKO, has big things ahead of him. His edgy and vibrant sound creates a unique atmosphere presented in both his recorded tracks and colourful live performances. The energy throughout all his tracks continually creates feel-good summer anthems which have a somewhat carefree sense, allowing the listener to feel uplifted and free.

The singer/songwriter recently hinted at upcoming new material, saying he has “so much new stuff I wanna share – soon!”, and just by looking at previous material there is certainly reason to be excited about what the following year has in store for this talent.
