2017 Ones To Watch #9 – The Night Café

The Night Cafe

With 2016 over, we look ahead to what musical talent 2017 can offer, and with the masses of acts out there in the industry there is plenty for us to get excited about. Throughout January, ICM will be highlighting one new band each day and showing just why they should be on your music radar. Our 9th band is The Night Café.

The Night Cafe are one of those bands that always seems to shine under the radar, which truly is a shame given their onstage and in-studio talent.

This talent was noticeable over 12 months ago when they supported The Wombats on their UK tour. The masterful mix of indie-pop and indie-rock got the crowd going and showed their nack for the light and airy sound.

Since then however they have been releasing music and in our opinion it hasn’t been getting the reception it deserves.

Tracks such as ‘You Change With The Seasons’ hit over 2,500 plays on SoundCloud in one day prooving they have a strong following. The band also embarked on a tour with  The Hunna and Sundara Karma too. This was all very well and good but why aren’t they bigger? They certainly have the talent to support it.

‘You Change With The Seasons’ saw them add a few more raucous beats into the mix, creating something more attention-grabbing than ever before.

‘Mixed Signals’ however took the tempo down a notch to share with us a journey through the heartbreak of a shattered relationship.

The intricacy behind their masterful song-writing and raw talent on stage, in our opinion, should have got them a lot further than they have. By all means though, we do not want to discredit the achievements The Night Café have made so far as it truly is something to be proud of.

All we at ICM hope for is that 2017 brings achievements plenty to The Night Café as they well and truly deserve it.

We will be announcing a new band every day throughout the entirety of January and the ICM long list will be announced on February 1st.
