Australian garage-pop merchants Spacey Jane have just come off the road for the first time since the release of their double A-side ‘In The Meantime’.
The quartet travelled across Australia to Melbourne after kicking things off in their hometown with a launch party at local haunt Mojo’s Bar last month.
‘In the Meantime’ is the groups – Caleb (guitar, vocals), Ashton (guitar), Meils (bass, vocals) Kieran (drums) – second multi-track release, following their 2017 debut EP, ‘No Way To Treat An Animal’. It saw them back in Poon’s Head studio with local producer Rob Grant (Tame Impala, POND, Eskimo Joe).
Singles ‘Old Enough’ and ‘So You Wanna’ bounce around upbeat and jangly guitar lines similar to that of The Magic Gang or Shame. The groovy, anthemic rock rhythm are a surprising transition that takes it to another level.
Spacey Jane came to life in 2016 when mates Caleb and Kieran re-visited their teenage musical ambitions. Ashton and Meils were picked up through uni friendships and the ball rolled on from there.
Since their first show in Caleb’s backyard, the band has shared the stage with some well-known Australian names including Car Seat Headrest, Alex Lahey, British India and The Stems, along with festival appearances at Wave Rock Weekender, Gizzfest 2017 and Falls Downtown and the recently announced SOTA Festival, hitting Elizabeth Quay in June 2018.
