With 2016 over, we look ahead to what musical talent 2017 can offer, and with the masses of acts out there in the industry there is plenty for us to get excited about. Throughout January, ICM will be highlighting one new band each day and showing just why they should be on your music radar. Our 20th act is The Sherlocks.
The Sherlocks have been a band who have been watched for a long time and have been tipped for greatness ever since their first BBC Introudcing Session. Made up of two sets of brothers, their journey has only just started to pick up speed. In 2016 they finally got signed to Infectious Music, the same label as Alt-J. However despite only being signed in December, The Sherlocks had already released some class music in 2016, Last Night and Will You Be There?. Their best track is Last Night, a storytelling track about the fallout after a night-out, which was released in March, which brings compelling drums and energetic guitar to create a relatively fresh sound and also encompasses the charm of the Arctic Monkeys and a Courteeners-esque sound which is at the core of all of their tracks. The Sherlocks being signed only fuels rumours that an album is on its way and it will be sensational.
They were invited to support the Libertines on their tour in early 2016 and delivered strong sets at Reading and Leeds, this not only broadened their popularity but gave The Sherlocks a platform to showcase their catchy, feel-good tunes.
The Sherlocks have announced a UK tour for February and March and this will not be one you want to miss.
