DISCOVER: The Gloomies – TIGER

Duo’s are something of a rare gem when it comes to finding new music. Being a duo is a statement. With your predecessors being the likes of The White Stripes, The Black Keys and even Royal Blood, leaving an impact of something of a mammoth task. However, Cali two-piece The Gloomies almost breeze through the tundra of the easily criticised two piece curse without a doubt in their mind.

Formed in 2013. Frontman Andy Craig and drummer Chris Trombley combine their Shoegaze and self-proclaimed ‘Dirt-Jazz’; painting a wild west story of dirty boots and the worst kind of villainous scum climbing out of a dive bar in the mustiest part of the California sands.

TIGER follows the same path of darkness. Starting off with a Cure like riff. The track meets us in the middle with huge gaining ‘Wahs’ which match the melody in an almost melancholic moan of despair in mix match battle of hatred and a “no fucks give” attitude.

Having played with the like of Hinds, Public Access TV and Day Wave. The Gloomies are on route 66 towards indie stardom which we hope takes a left towards the UK.
