Atlas Wynd have unveiled two new singles in the form of a double A-side release, ‘Eyes Fixed On The Sun / You’re On My Mind’.
Following April’s single, ‘Mona Lisa’ sees the band at both their most soothingly reflective and brutal, with both sides of this release showing other facets of their developing sound.
The Brighton-based trio of Peter Chapman (vocals/guitar), Harry Sotnick (drums) and newly acquired Sam Evans (bass) are barely out of their teens but operate like seasoned professionals as they continue to thrash and snarl on each offering. Having already made a solid impact on their growing scene, the band are currently making preparations for a string of festival appearances this summer.
‘Eyes Fixed On The Sun’ is a deceptively breezy summer tune, but when the guitar comes crashing into the chorus with a smattering of alternative sounds. Inspired by his recent use of slide guitar, he began incorporating it into the louder full band setup. The closing riff may only consist of a handful of notes and Harry’s trademark no-frills beats, but the sheer force of those final 20 seconds will hit you square in the face the moment the fuzz kicks in.
‘You’re On My Mind’ brings back memories of youth and carefree bliss as the band deliver their most live sounding recording to date. Peter explains how each song he writes is “practice for the next one”, making music from the feelings he finds too hard to decipher. With an impressive track record on the live circuit, it won’t be long before this new tune worms its way into everyone’s head and gets their feet moving.
Securing fans in Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Elise Cobain (Amazing Radio) and a slew at Radio X, including John Kennedy, Atlas Wynd’s alt rock is starting to get noticed stand out slots at Great Escape, Y Not Festival and regular appearances at Brighton’s Green Door Store, Atlas Wynd have firmly established themselves as a promising name to look out for in the not too distant future.
