Blushes release indie pop banger ‘Not a Chance’

Blushes

Blushes continuously manage to blow us away with every new track they release. ‘Not a Chance’ is the Aylesbury quartet’s latest song to achieve this.

Opening straight into the chorus with a drum beat from Jacob, this track instantly displays the funky upbeat vibes the band are becoming so well known for. The harmonised vocals between Brad and Tiff is something to be so admired, the beautiful blend of low male vocals and higher female creates an incredible dynamic you can’t help but go back to time and time again.

‘Not a Chance’ is an extremely catchy track which works entirely in the band’s favour. It’s stomping bass notes from Tiff’s korg, sun-drenched guitar riffs from Sonny and Brad’s guitar skills with a precision to be truly commended. The psych-pop vibes stick with you with hard-hitting lyrics like ‘you don’t have to play so keen, but I do, cus I want to, cus it’s you, ‘ managing to stay in your head after a single play. This will likely be on so many summer playlists.

The band had this to say about the track: “This scenario is more or less of a dude that thinks he is the bees knees, the dogs… but this narcissism is his downfall. In this scenario, he is approaching a girl, which doesn’t seem to be out of the norm for this character, yet she has seen it all before and is having none of it.”

Blushes were part of NME’s emerging programme and named as part of ‘Healywave’, a brand of indie pop headed by The 1975 and named after frontman Matt Healy.

The group also have several live shows coming up and we’d absolutely recommend seeing this incredible band dance about the stage for an evening, it’s incredible.
