With 2016 over, we look ahead to what musical talent 2017 can offer, and with the masses of acts out there in the industry there is plenty for us to get excited about. Throughout January, ICM will be highlighting one new band each day and showing just why they should be on your music radar. Our 5th band is Glass Caves.
Their self-funded debut album ‘Alive’ made Record Store Day’s Top 40 when they started the band back in 2014.
‘Do You Have a Name’, which is their latest song, displays Glass Caves knack for emotive atmospheric indie rock. Settling as a richly emotive and authentic track, the song is a cheerful callout to lovers everywhere. This is passionately presented in the beating drum patterns and anthemic guitar chords.
This latest 80s-tastic cut from the lads shows huge potential with echoes of Spandau Ballet, a gripping guitar solo and an elegant new music video evoking the great British tradition of working class pubs and clubs and some disgraceful dad dancing.
Glass Caves are set to release a sophomore LP within 2017 following their 2014 release, ‘Alive’.

Glass Caves are known for their proactive attitude towards live performing. Constantly busking in Yorkshire towns on the afternoons ahead of their ticketed events, Glass Caves push to influence and encourage more bands to just get up and get out there.
During an exclusive interview with ICM about their performance at LiveAtLeeds 2016, we asked them what they thought about the new free entry Briggate Stage.
“It’s Incredible!”, Glass Caves explained, “The amount of people who never come to LiveatLeeds festival because they can’t afford a ticket or have no knowledge of the bands performing is huge, especially when it is people living in Leeds. People might just be shopping, and then ‘BAM!’, a great new local band starts playing their music whether the public like it or not! In our opinion, it really got our name out there.”.
Glass Caves are bound to perform at more festivals within 2017 getting their name out there even more.

We were lucky enough to see Glass Caves as they performed a sold out headline show at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds.
Glass Caves’ set featured a well thought production aspect, smoke machines and lighting set the mood between each song. With the tall, long haired lead vocalist in his knee length trench coat letting out vocals so empowering to the point of feeling enlightened by the performance, it was very easy to see the talent and limitless potential that Glass Caves have available.
We will be announcing a new band every day throughout the entirety of January and the ICM long list will be announced on February 1st.
