Track Of The Year nominee #9 – The Sherlocks

The Sherlocks

One of the main things that get us music fans through our day to day routine is having an impeccable music playlist to hand. No matter what the occasion we all like to tailor a playlist to our liking. However, without the vital resource of new music this simply wouldn’t be possible. Our sound of 2016 is one of the best we’ve had in recent years and owe a huge thank you to the musical talent supplying us with awesome tracks!

Imagine you combined the charm and musical stamina of Arctic Monkeys with the orotund, gravelly vocals from Courteeners, and the playful persona of pretty much every lot of musicians lucky enough to be able to play their music to the public. The Sherlocks are essentially the cherry-picked features of your most beloved bands, decorated with their own flare of originality and prestantious repertoire of infectious lyrics and instrumentals.

After broadening their popularity majorly when invited to tour with The Libertines at the start of this year, The Sherlocks have outdone themselves by pleasing huge crowds at Reading and Leeds festival and have announced a tour for early 2017.

The upbeat cheerfulness of their track titled ‘Last Night’, united with subtle harmonies around the chorus, the thought-provoking narrative of the lyrics, and the punchy rhythm accentuated by resonant drum beats and robust guitar licks are part of why this song has to be a strong candidate for Track of the Year; the four Sheffield lads have clearly dedicated exceptional passion and charisma towards composing this indie/alternative treasure.

The winners from each award will be announced on December 30th.
