The Sherlocks released a new single on Thursday, which was premiered on BBC Radio 6 on Wednesday night through Steve Lamacq. 2016 seemed to be a killer year for The Sherlocks. A support slot for The Libertines, summer festival slots such as; Reading&Leeds and Bestival, class singles; Last Night and Will You Be There? and then finally getting a record deal with Infectious Music.
The Sherlocks have caught the attention of Annie Mac and Huw Stephens as well as the aforementioned Steve Lamacq. The Sheffield four-piece made up of Kiaran (Lead Vocals and Guitar) and his brother, Brandon (Drums) plus Josh Davidson (Lead Guitar and Vocals) and his brother Andy (Bass and Backing Vocals).
The Sherlocks deliver golden guitar rock which has clear influences from Sheffield Counterparts, Arctic Monkeys and other giants such as The Jam and Clash yet have created a unique sound which blends raw vocals, bold drums and extremely catchy chorus’.
Was It Really It Worth It? holds all of the above at its heart. The heartfelt vocals delivered by Kiaran, anthemic guitar and the extremely catchy chorus has created a track which is one of the bands best so far and asks ‘Was It Really It Worth It?’. The track is. about the battle of pleasing someone who can’t be pleased or in another word, it’s bluntly summarised in the last verse as ‘fighting a battle that can’t be won’
Frontman Kiaran describes the album is “a high energy tune but maintains a very positive message underneath all the chaos”. The Sherlocks are becoming renowned for their instantly catchy choruses, you only have to look at previous releases to see this. Was It Really Worth It? is no different. The band says “The chorus is huge and I believe it will be a fans favourite that sticks with us forever.”
Fans are now waiting for the highly anticipated and overdue debut album which The Sherlocks have hinted at.The Sherlocks are about to embark on their longest tour to date with 38 dates around the UK and Ireland in February after a sold out headline tour in September.
