Newcastle trio The Old Pink House have been causing a stir recently with a string of 80s inflected cosmic-pop singles, and not to mention being our Artist Spotlight feature last week.
Their new cut, ‘Neck Deep’ continues the neon march. The Old Pink House are taking a further step into the national scene’s collective consciousness.
A swirling riff begins proceedings, leading into a verse showcasing Christopher Brown’s imperious vocals, which then deliver the track’s central hook with swagger.
The Old Pink House have this Tame Impala feel with new single ‘Neck Deep’. Straight from the get-go, packed to the brim with synths and loud electronic pop beats and guitars the band are the UK’s answer to Australian band.
We described them as “a band that is destined to be massive, whether it’s the potential of that they already have that standard.” And to be honest, with the rate they are turning out tune after tune, they are certainly becoming one of the hottest bands this year.
Frontman Christopher Brown said: “’Neck Deep’ was one of the first tracks that was written collaboratively as a band. Previously our process had been a lot more singular, but this song came together really naturally in our dingy little rehearsal room. I don’t usually like to say what songs are specifically about, but at its core, it’s ultimately about how relationships can be swallowed up by secrets.”
Following a sell-out at their July headline show at Jumpin’ Jacks in Newcastle, they’re taking in the city’s prestigious Think Tank on October 27th. They’ll also be playing Live at Leeds’ Ones to Watch show in November at The Wardrobe.
