Rhys Lewis releases new track ‘Wish I Was Sober’

Last week, Oxford singer-songwriter Rhys Lewis released new song ‘Wish I Was Sober’.

The song, similarly to the content of his past releases, contains very personal lyrics. His soulful storytelling style is ever apparent as well, with the lyrics depicting a tale of regrets of mistakes that he has made. The repetition is important within the infectious chorus, giving listeners the idea that the cycle he has created for himself is ongoing, as well as creating a memorable instant sing-along section that makes the track such a pleasant listen.

After the Spotify success of ‘Waking up Without You’ earlier on this year, Lewis hasn’t disappointed with this new track. The gospel choir backing vocals paired with the emotive lyrics work together to create a catchier track, that still carries as much meaning as his previous work.

Lewis has previously stated in interviews that his songs are so personal that it is ‘difficult’ to speak to the women they are written about once they have been heard. The 24-year-old sounds well beyond his years with his narrative style and his songs have an air of maturity about them that resembles classic blues and soul artists.

Rhys Lewis is only improving with every single he produces and he is set to release his debut album in early 2018. I predict that the young artist will make waves in the coming year.
