Riscas have been making waves lately with their colourful indie-pop and don’t look like they’ll be stopping any time soon.

Made up of four Birmingham boys, George, Eph, Tom and Dan, their music channels a tropical vibe, taking influence from a number of inspirations across the indie genre. Their festival-ready choruses have been compared to Marsicans, along with rhythms similar to those of Two Door Cinema Club and Vampire Weekend.

Only forming in 2016, throughout their short career they’ve already been named as BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Artist of the Week, and supported the likes of Pale Waves, High Tyde and Airways. They’ve also amassed a huge 2 million streams on debut single Panic Like Tom. Not bad for a couple of years.

This year, the Birmingham four-piece have busied themselves both in the studio, recording and releasing their Calypso EP, and touring up and down the country, which saw them play their biggest headline London show at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen.

For a band that’s had such critical acclaim with just one EP under their belts, 2019 can only bring good things for Riscas, with the potential for some more festival appearances and landing some more huge support slots. One thing’s for sure, the next will be their year.
