2018 Ones To Watch #14 – Airways

Airways

I cannot get enough of Airways. Their Grumpily groovy sound draws me in like a moth to a flame. A breath of fresh air without being too outlandish and a dark, royal-blood esque quality that makes their music ooze with attitude – keep an eye on these four.

2017 saw the release of their debut EP ‘Starting to Spin’: there’s something to be said for Jake Daniel’s intoxicating vocals – with an almost waxy temperament he brings a poignant, moody atmosphere to biting lyrics. With thick drumbeats, sobering bassline and some serious riffs the boys have landed themselves five absolutely anthemic tracks that burst with personality.

It seems crazy that just two years ago I saw Airways at a teeny little venue in Southampton. In such a short time frame progressing to supporting major bands like Nothing But Thieves all the way across the Atlantic is just testimony to the sheer quality and character that Airways bring to the studio.

In the space of 2017, they hit three million streams, released an EP and made their name known across two continents, setting 2018 up to be the year that Airways cause tidal waves across the industry. With ‘Reckless Tongue‘ reaching one million Spotify streams alone in the very first days of the new year, their social media following snowballing and even more new music lined up – watch out ladies and gents, Airways are set to smash all expectation in 2018.
