Calva Louise gear up for most ambitious album yet with new single ‘Other Self’

Alternative trio Calva Louise share their latest cut from the band’s forthcoming concept album EUPHORIC, due next month.

Driven by Jess’s creative vision and ambitious songwriting, new track ‘Other Self’ is part of their most multifaceted work to date

Coming August 20, EUPHORIC takes influence from graphic novels and Sci-Fi movies, the record provides a mesmerising introduction to an alternate reality. Calva Louise will also release an accompanying animated movie with the album.

The45 minute film was created by Jess by using software such as Blender. In addition, a further graphic novel will be released at a later date, the second in a series with artwork created by Jess.

“’Other Self’ speaks about the intrinsic meaning of individuality and relationships with people in the everyday world,” explains vocalist and guitarist Jess Allanic. “Simultaneously, it’s about the uncertainty of a possible complementary duality, manifested through dreams.

“It is not a conversation with oneself, but a conversation with a supposed other self, a premise that the mind can’t accept.

“In life there are unknown situations that many of us will never be able to understand, especially those related to that feeling that there is something or someone beyond our understanding. And perhaps there is not only a counterpart that guides us through intuition, but also a parallel world full of ideas and thoughts from a different origin than ours, a world where time and space are led by different rules.”
