2018 Ones To Watch #7 – Bad Sounds

Bad Sounds

On the brink of dominating the indie music scene, Bad Sounds are undoubtedly going to have a colossal 2018.

The combination of 70s disco music, hip-hop and a catchy bass line all supported by dark almost twisted lyrics is the basis of any bad sounds record.

The indie-pop five-piece from Bath consisting of Ewan Merrett (keyboards, vocals), Callum Merrett (vocals), Charlie Pitt (bass), Sam Hunt (guitar), Olivia Dimery (drums) have already had a smashing year supporting the likes of Rat Boy & Wolf Alice, not to mention the array of festivals they have dominated.

They have had huge support in the form of Radio 1 giving two of the band’s singles ‘Wages’ and ‘Are you high?’ the ‘hottest record in the world’ title, and another, ‘Avalanche’ tune of the week.

As for their live shows, they can only be described as a party. Their upbeat tunes can disrupt a room in the best way possible, they have the crowd completely wrapped around their melodious fingers. Stage invasions, confetti cannons and crowd surfing of band members is the least to expect from a Bad Sounds gig, if you’re not boring and have the opportunity to see them while they’re still playing smaller venues, I would.

They currently have no tour or new music announced for the coming year, but it’s almost inevitable that they’ll hit us with something huge in 2018. Perhaps with two successful EP’s and a recent single could they have something slightly bigger lined up?
