Jangle-pop outfit Burma have released their self-titled debut EP!
The St. Albans five piece, comprising of Matt Taylor (Vocals), Dan Byrne (Lead Guitar), James Hull (Guitar), George Aldridge (Bass Guitar), and Lee Coates (Drums), have been working on the EP for the past year alongside award-winning composer and producer, James Ratcliffe. The Guildhall and Brunel graduate brings his atypically textural and imaginative style to the group, who in their self-titled debut, provide an exciting first offering.
Having formed in 2016, Burma are defined by their creation of melodic tracks with ambitious composition. Taking inspiration from the jangled guitars of 80’s indie and the psychedelic colour of dream-pop, the band’s wide listening palette is reflected in their debut release.
‘You & I’ kicks into life with the psychadelic guitar riffs to the brooding and powerful ‘JM’, Burma excel both in the intricate, patchwork-like guitars of Hull and Byrne, and the unusual, warm voice of Taylor. Distinctively hopeful lyrically, Taylor uses the fluid arrangements provided by Hull and Byrne to explore belonging and everyday life.
Burma will be promoting their debut EP live throughout 2017 so don’t miss out.
