2018 Ones To Watch #17 – Bloody Knees

Bloody Knees

Bloody Knees, the garage rock four-piece from Cambridge have started this year off with a bang and they’re certainly ‘not done’ (pun intended).

Since releasing their EP ‘Maybe it’s easy’ back in October, they have put their selves in a fantastic position for the coming year.

The quartet consists of Bradley Griffiths (Vocals, guitar), Sam Conway (Bass), Christian Wilkes (guitar), Tom Wilkes (Drums) who have grown up playing music together since they were youngsters. This lifelong friendship is evident on stage, you can really see the passion and energy between the band who just want to have fun and get rowdy.

If you mixed grunge, indie & skate-punk into a big old bowl, your outcome would be a Bloody Knee song. Lead singer Brad’s brilliantly hoarse vocals certainly match the bands’ abrasive style, really giving them that grungy edge. This combined with skater riffs and rock melodies result in some serious headbangers.

It’s clear that these boys really love what they do, their quirky music videos and witty lyrics show they don’t take things too seriously. It’s refreshing seeing a group of mates do what they love, make music and have a laugh. What makes it better is that they’re sick at it!

If the foursome keeps doing what they’re doing, there is no doubt they will have a smashing year. Hopefully, they can turn their ‘daydream’ into a reality and triumph the music scene in 2018 (wow, another pun!). They are yet to announce any tour for 2018, but if you fancy getting bloody knees at a bloody knees gig, then they a couple of shows in place over the next month.

Tour dates:

Thursday 18 January – Scala, London
Saturday 03 February – Brass Monkey, Hastings
