2018 Ones To Watch #16 – Tom Walker

Tom Walker

2017 was a big year for Manchester born singer-songwriter Tom Walker. It’s almost impossible to have not caught a glimpse of his brand of hauntingly beautiful music, from guest appearances on Sunday Brunch to being featured on the Spotify UK, French and Italian Hot Hits playlists.

His charming single ‘Just You and I‘ catapulted him into the mainstream and into every critic’s good books – including our exclusive Artist Spotlight slot.

His latest work, ‘Leave a Light On‘ achieved number 24 in the iTunes chart and number 57 in the UK Charts and was searched on Shazam over a million times. It’s clear that Walker has found his niche and it’s a very promising start to his career.

The song has a wonderful depth – contrasting vulnerable verses with a deliciously dark chorus fuelled by an ominously chirping synth melody and gritty vocals.

It provides the first time listener with an insight into Walker’s variety as an artist – he’s able to create endearing, harmony driven ballads and gutsy, rockier tunes.

On a lighter note, Tom has earned himself a loyal fan base through his amiable attitude. After serving as the support for The Script’s latest US tour, Walker started the hashtag  #IWantTomsGuitar, which led to him giving his guitar to Makayla from Utah.

You can catch Tom on his March tour, he’s playing ten dates across the UK, three of which have already sold out – so be quick!
