The Dirty Pennies breathe new life into New York State as the outfit spread sonic psych rock and high energy garage rock in people’s faces.

The trio hailing from Rochester consists of Ryan Klem (vocals, guitar), Lucas Howe (drums) and Joe Mungo (bass) and have just released sophomore single ‘Love Ain’t Free’.

Offering a 60/70s flair, The Dirty Pennies capture rock ‘n’ roll at its finest. Looking back on their earlier work, ‘Love Ain’t Free’ has a more mellow sound based on their blues and folk songwriting, but also hold a powerful rhythmic edge that sets a great president.

The song an energetic love ballad about light-hearted recollection on the feelings, social cues and events one encounters when bonding with a significant person in your life.

Around the one-minute 50 second mark, a glorious guitar solo breaks out following the line ‘I drop down on my knee, baby love ain’t free’. The band said it symbolises the climactic scene of proposing to one’s partner.

Following up on their 2017 debut album Kick Out the Rock in 2017, The Dirty Pennies sound much more anthemic thanks to the psychedelic rock influences the band’s music is bursting with more energy than ever before.
