Stereophonics are back with ‘All In One Night’

Stereophonics

20 years after the release of their debut album ‘Word Gets Around’, the Welsh band Stereophonics have announced their tenth studio album ‘Scream Above the Sounds’ alongside the album’s lead single: ‘All In One Night’. The album is set to be released on November 3rd.

‘All In One Night’ is an observational track following the events of ‘one night’ from one o’clock to six o’clock in the morning across each verse. Although the track’s lyrics are a little lacklustre when compared to Stereophonics’ older work, the overall tone of the song is clear and straightforward, conversational, and (although not quite) literal. The accompanying music video follows the same story as the lyrics literally, creating a surreal experience of time against a real, credible narrative. In an interview, frontman Kelly Jones said that the ten tracks on the upcoming album would be very different from one another, and were written ‘from the people’s point of view’; stories from the perspective of the average person.

The upcoming ‘Scream Above the Sounds’ album follows 2015’s ‘Keep The Village Alive’, which heralded success with singles such as ‘C’est La Vie’ and ‘I Wanna Get Lost With You’. The new single has a gentler sound, but matches a similar nighttime, reflective listening mood to that of ‘I Wanna Get Lost With You’. ‘All In One Night’ isn’t quite the anthemic track that made Stereophonics a household name, but it’s enjoyable melody and catchy hook are promising as a new direction for the new album.

‘Scream Above the Sounds’ will consist of ten songs and is set to be released on November 3rd:

Caught By The Wind
Taken a Tumble
What’s All The Fuss About?
Geronimo
All In One Night
Chances Are
Before Anyone Knew Our Name
Would You Believe?
Cryin’ In Your Beer
Boy On A Bike
Elevators
