GLOO unleash ‘Swimming In Your Sea’ from their anticipated sophomore album

South coast rockers GLOO have unleashed their new single ‘Swimming In Your Sea’ earlier this month which is taken from the bands eagerly awaited sophomore album, released today.

How Not To Be Happy is 10 pure tracks of escapism that reflect the drudgery of the every day but seek to shrug it off over the course of a thirty-minute blur of power-pop, post-grunge and punk rock.

GLOO have been busy releasing a steady stream of singles for the build-up to the LP – their follow up to 2019’s A Pathetic Youth – including ‘Ride’ and ‘Big Smoke’ which were picked up by Modern Age Music as their Song of the Day feature.

‘Swimming In Your Sea’ is a gripping indie rock anthem with infectious beats and killer vocals from frontman Thomas Harfield.

Speaking on the new song the band said: “GLOO’s aim has always been to help people escape, whilst at the same time evolving with each release we put out.

“This song for us does exactly that, but this time proudly showcasing our other inspirations with a slightly more laid-back cocktail whilst still giving you enough distortion to smash your glass when the chorus comes.

“The writing of ‘Swimming In Your Sea’ was one of them rare and insane times where the song was written from start to finish in about half an hour!

“I (Tom) was actually kind of drifting in and out of a film and f*cking around on the guitar playing the main riff from ‘Serve the Servants’ by Nirvana when I changed it out of boredom and suddenly my ear perked up with this new modified version I had subconsciously been playing. As soon as I heard my new riff I was like I’ve gotta finish this and did!”

‘How Not to Be Happy’, recorded with producer Jag Jago (The Maccabees, Jamie T, The Ghost Of A Thousand), is out now. Listen in full below.
