Gengahr release new single ‘Carrion’

Gengahr

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from indie darlings Gengahr and yet here they are back after two years with their killer track ‘Carrion’.

Don’t remember Gengahr? The Stoke Newington kids were big in the indie scene back in 2014/2015 as a love child between indie rock and soft psychedelia. Their singles ‘Fill my Gums with Blood’ and ‘She’s a Witch’ struck such a chord with people that they had plenty of airtime. Festival appearances such as their slot on Glastonbury’s introducing stage in 2014, before going on to be big names on other stages, meant they were moving quick. The debut album ‘A Dream Outside’ was near perfect. It’s such an incredible debut and still is a total dream to listen to. Since then though the band had been relatively quiet, until now.

‘Carrion’ portrays a wonderful step forward for the four-piece. It feels different to what they’d done before and yet the indie rock/psych style is still so clearly there. However, the psychedelic presence is far more noticeable. Perhaps their forthcoming music will entirely shake the indie rock roots but for now, the indie is still flowing strong. ‘Carrion’ is such a welcome return to such a memorable voice and band. It’s a song that you can tell is going to be absolutely massive and soul consuming live. Just crank up the volume and immerse yourself.

With an incredible video to accompany the release, Gengahr are set for bigger things. Whether this is a dream for them or the dreaminess is from their music we won’t know. But for now, enjoy ‘Carrion’ and go back and fall in love with the debut album all over again.
