We at ICM are often sent demos by bands big and small, it’s a great privilege to be able to hear these fresh tracks from some incredible bands. One such demo came through to us recently and you sit and wonder; how is the hell is this a demo?
“Liverpool based noise pop/rock outfit creating something authentic whilst retaining elements reminiscent of the past. The band is currently colliding the worlds of synth pop and riff rock with occasional falsetto hooks bursting out of a tidal wave of sound.” – CAVEPARTY’s Facebook bio
CAVEPARTY are an immensely satisfying discovery who’ve knocked it out the park with this single. ‘No Lies’ doesn’t feel like a demo, it’s a fully fledged single in it’s own right and I’m a little obsessed. From the get go, the short lead in draws you into a huge sounding track. Indie rock at it’s best, CAVEPARTY manage to pair a catchy lead riff with a stomping bass yet top it all off with hard drums and vocals that are so catchy and you instantly feel like you can sing along to.
It feels as though The Black Keys never existed, and instead got replaced by some lads from Liverpool. I could listen to their noisey alt/rock on repeat forever. In fact that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. ‘No Lies’ draws to a close with an intense culmination of the entire song sounding bigger than ever. There’s no way this is just a demo.
I have one criticism with this track; it’s not long enough. 2:22 feels so short for a track this good. Backhanded compliment maybe but I’m incredibly excited to see more of what CAVEPARTY do next.
