Two kids from Manchester have been absolutely killing it this year. Zigi and Tom of Darcie are back once again with their new cut ‘How Was She?’.

Well, let’s start with a bit of an update since ‘Litter‘. The duo has now confirmed their upcoming EP is set for release in Spring 2019 and ‘How Was She?’ is the first single from this.

The multi-instrumentalists’ slick danceable indie-pop is so infectious, the duo seems to mature with every release. Their dreamy lo-fi soul and Zigi’s powerful vocals to match is the perfect combination. ‘How Was She?’ takes a groovier, slow jam approach – a track that you can ultimately chill-out and relax to.

Musically drawing on the DIY feel of artists such as Steve Lacy and Rex Orange County, alongside the soulful influences of Jorja Smith and Tom Misch, Darcie have a distinctive sound which is complimented by Monsieur Mingle’s unique illustrations. Live, the duo perform without a band, experimenting with technology whilst incorporating traditional instruments.

Good

  • Growing with every release
  • Musically gifted

Bad

  • Would be nice to see more musical variety
