Artist Spotlight: Arcade Hearts

Arcade Hearts

Arcade Hearts are an up and coming band who love nothing more than playing live. Hailing from Gosport, they bring a fresh approach to indie pop by adding effects pedals and synths to create a mesmerising sound that has captured the hearts of new fans up and down the country.

Having previously played with the likes of Youth Club and Jerry Williams, they’re ready to take 2018 by storm, with a UK tour in February This includes dates such as Icebreaker Festival in Portsmouth and The Hope and Ruin in Brighton.

The band have a penchant for writing catchy indie pop bangers, including the spiky guitar-laden ‘Fool Me’ complete with fuzzy riffs and atmospheric soundscapes, and the upbeat Foals-influenced ‘Tried For Nothing.’ The band released recent single ‘Running’ back in October, a track which would go perfectly in an indie disco.

It features chopped up vocal samples which worm their way straight into your head, and a catchy chorus: “ooh what are you running away from” with some meandering guitar lines, math-rock inspired drums and a funky disco bassline. This track shows Arcade Hearts stepping out of their comfort zone, and daring to try new things, with every element surprising the listener.

If this is the direction Arcade Hearts are heading, then they are set for a massive 2018.
