Whenyoung – Ones To Watch 2019
Having kicked off 2019 already with a blinder, whenyoung are three individuals that should be on every music aficionado’s radar.
Living up to her name, Aoife Power’s vocals are nothing short of powerful. Bellowing in strength yet echoing with grace, the transparency, intricacies and sheer precision of her lyricism works wonders with the accompanying guitar twangs and groovy drum beats.
Aoife, Niall and Andrew are the trio, whenyoung, and they’re a trio you need to know as we head into 2019. Last year saw six tracks from them including ‘Given Up’, ‘Dreams’ and ‘Pretty Pure’. It also saw them nominated for the ICM Award, Greatest Discovery.
Described as the answer with lyrical depth and a social conscience backing up the band’s undoubted knack for penning hook-filled jams, whenyoung deserved to be recognised for their recent explosion within the indie scene.
Having toured alongside Dream Wife and Declan McKenna, whenyoung are easily up there with some of this year’s most exciting new guitar bands. Just ask Bono and Shane McGowan.
