The Lulls – lo-fi psychedelics

A new genre is emerging from the indie scene. Lo-fi sounding instrumentals, soulful lyrics and a happy-melancholic feel are shaping a whole new avenue in alternative music. The likes of Mac Demarco, Yellow Days and  Rex Orange County making their mark as pioneers of this new sound. Joined now by the Lulls with their intoxicatingly smooth track ‘Not Bad’.

Music to get drunk to – the Lulls latest release is the perfect blend of lo-fi indie pop and psychedelic rock. A very accomplished track for such a new band, with hints of Milky Chance in the vocals, and instrumentals reminiscent of Jaws’ guitar melodies.  A lazy drumbeat opens the song followed by airy guitar notes, setting the laid-back, unhurried tone. Eclectic lyrics and repetitive melodies shape the psychedelic vibe, while the climatic chorus gives ‘not bad’ hints of that gritty indie-rock feel.

Fresh, mellow and well produced, the Lulls have really made their mark with their latest track.
