German musician Summer Crowd Stereo has taken his acoustic ballads to new heights by completely transforming his music on new release ‘Here Alive’.

“Everything new. Everything different,” he says as the Hamburg-based man produces an easy-going, atmospheric single which is perfect if you’re cruising over a highway with your window open.

‘Here Alive’ marks his take-off as a full indie-pop band. This gem of a single reminiscent of modern Westcoast sounds you usually get from Midlake combined with the easy-going, atmospheric vibes of The Shins or new Death Cab for Cutie songs.

Talking about the song, he said: “It’s a beautiful summer song – a perfect fit if you’re cruising over a highway with your window open. But do not get mistaken! If you listen to the lyrics a little closer you will find that there is still a lot of melancholy.

“The typical mood that Summer Crowd Stereo has so far shaped into sad songwriter material. It now comes in a new disguise. Which makes it all the more interesting.

“One cannot help thinking of another acoustic hero switching to the electric six-string. But we did not want to talk about Dylan, did we? After all, this would be aiming a bit too high. When all we want to do is praise a nice summer song. Which is something, after all.”
