Sleuth blend indie pop-rock with lo-fi soundscapes

Named after a group of bears, Sleuth have just released their new single ‘First To Leave, Last To Go’. The indie pop-rock trio have a lo-fi edge to their unique sonic soundscapes.

Originally formed as a solo project in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Christopher Taylor-Ashcroft, Sleuth became a trio this year. Bassist Daria Tomalak and drummer Carl Bayliss join the ranks as the Wolverhampton-based group push the indie rock barriers further.

Following up on the previous single ‘We Are Books’, ‘First To Leave, Last To Go’ is a piano-led tune puts a spotlight on Christopher’s vocal presence as the electronic pads and drumming take you for a rollercoaster ride; changing tempo at least a dozen times.

The track has already been picked up by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson and has been described as “clever indie pop” by SLAP Magazine. Sleuth has played alongside The Wombats, Quasi, Gaz Coombes and performed in London for Elliott Smith’s 50th Birthday Bash.

Sleuth have combined mesmerising effects and terrific keyboard melodies together to create a powerful sound that will make you stop and listen intently.
