Sisyphes release dreamy and synthwave infused self-titled debut EP

Hailing from the seaside town of Margate, a new dreamy pop project is brewing called Sisyphes.

Formed by former La Houle guitarist and songwriter Geoffrey Papin, along with his partners in crime, Clémentine Blue (Tiger Lion), John Davies (Michael A Grammar, Traams) and Jimi Tormey (Gang) inherit a hazy mist of shoegaze and synthwave into their atmospheric sound.

With the release of their self-titled debut EP in June this year, the quartet also state that they have a debut album up their sleeves before the year comes to a close.

Containing their first two singles ‘Saṃsāra’ and ‘Hispanie’, Sisyphes also put out ‘Nos Regrets;’ a track that reflects a state of uncertainty that will resonate with many.

Of the track, Geoffrey says: ‘Nos Regrets‘ is by far the most poetic song of this album.

“It’s a 5/4 time signature but robotic with a strong grove. The track explores the idea of a human encased by a digital algorithm which he cannot escape, slowly being desensitized.”

Subtitled ‘On a 2.0 Man facing the annihilation of his humanity,’ the voice of a fragmented, even jittery personality set against a percussive landscape that still manages to maintain some of the dreamier elements.

‘Nos Regrets’ was written by Geoffrey and produced by alongside Franklin Mockett. Whilst throwing in unique elements of alternative, Avant pop and French influences, Sisyphes offer a contemporary sound that throws in groovy electronic moments. Geoffrey’s voice also has a tinge of Dan Croll to it.

All tracks contained in the EP will be featured in the forthcoming debut album ‘Deviant Pop’, due to be released later in 2020.
