Sea Girls make us dance with new track ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’

London-based indie rock band Sea Girls have alleviated quarantine’s atmosphere with a new, bubbly single ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’ – and an album announcement Open Up Your Head which will be out on the August 14th, 2020.
Alongside all of these exciting announcements, they also upgraded some venues and stated they are going to tour the UK in November, playing their biggest London show to date. But let’s talk about the new track.
‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’ is a hopeful and youthful song, where frontman Henry Camamile carries all its weight with his warm and comforting vocals. It is not a long track, only three minutes long, but it leaves a mark in the listener: it is exactly what we needed during such hard times. With a mellow beginning, the song grows gradually until it explodes in a fun and carefree chorus. The latter itself is very pop, considering the indie roots of the band, but they recuperate their signature sounds through Henry’s voice and very simple but effective drums.
“I go out collecting all of my thoughts, they start to hit my head with such a violent force”
It is, overall, a very danceable track. I already imagine how great it is going to be live. It is about self esteem and one’s view of themselves; everyone has things that they would like to change but, at the end of the day, we are all right in our own way. Such a hopeful message is very important, especially now, when our view of reality is completely distorted and dystopian.
Sea Girls, with a simple track like ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’, have established their title as very credible breakthrough indie band, bringing some light in people’s houses and lives. We really can’t wait to hear what their debut is going to sound like. (Check out the visualiser for the track here).
