Pizzagirl drops new single 'cape canaveral'

Liverpool’s unique musician Pizzagirl releases a new taut art-rock jam called ‘cape canaveral’ that you could see building into the soundtrack for an offbeat party scene.

Uncharacteristically restrained, the single channels the wiry, agitated style of David Byrne in its depiction of an archetypal fugitive character; undercover and underground, cruising towards a surreptitious gathering on the Space Coast.

Calling to mind modern indie figures in The Whitest Boy Alive or Phoenix too with its guitar-led groove, it’s a further example of Pizzagirl, known as Liam Brown, stylistically breaking beyond the bedroom-pop confines of his self-coined Beatzerria. With a renewed focus on writing songs with his trusty guitar (‘Denise’), and joined now onstage by a live band, his newest chapter.

Having been recently ripped from his opportunity to perform in the US for the first time at SWSW Festival, Pizzagirl is still young and his career is brimming with confidence.

‘cape canaveral’ follows a first act resoundingly closed by acclaimed debut album ‘first timer’, which was a technicolour triumph in pulling together the threads of musical and pop-culture references he had absorbed in his formative years of artistic expression.

Creating a sound, style and aesthetic that is resolutely his own, the Pizzagirl world is now fully established, for Liam to explore and pull stories from.
