Paper Buoys share anthemic and pulsating indie rock

Paper Buoys

Birmingham indie rockers Paper Buoys return with their first single of the year ‘Liaa’ (Love Is All Around) ahead of a second album in September.

The quartet, comprised of Chris Newey (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Stuart Lidgbird (Lead Guitar), Nick Wynne (Drums) and Jon Perks (Bass Guitar), have been working with Gavin Monaghan at Magic Garden Studio for the release.

Between now and September, Paper Buoys will be sharing a string of punk and rock singles which they have carefully crafted since 2016. ‘Liaa’ is an upbeat anthem with soaring choruses and vocals to match. There’s a noughties rock vibe to it similar to The Pigeon Detectives with the pulsating guitars and the buzz of the crashing drums.

“‘Liaa’ feels like the right song for us to kick start the year ahead,” said frontman, Chris Newey. “It’s a no nonsense, Indie Rock banger with a distinctive Paper Buoys stamp on it.”

The new single is accompanied by a self-produced music video with a tongue-in-cheek, Back To The Future theme.

“We wanted to make a music video fast and with no budget. Jon had this ‘Doc’ costume for a fancy dress party so we created a loose story around that and filmed it all that night in short, one-take scenes.” Newey explained.

All upcoming gigs have been postponed but Paper Buoys will announce new dates for later in the year. Check out the video below and leave an ICM Rating out of 10!
