Ones To Watch 2020: Pillow Queens

Pillow Queens

Dublin’s queer indie punk-rock band Pillow Queens feature on the Ones To Watch list as they prepare for their biggest year yet.

Comprised of Sarah Corcoran (vocals, guitar and bass), Pamela Connolly (vocals, guitar and bass), Cathy McGuinness (guitar) and Rachel Lyons (drums), the quartet came onto our radar in November when their single ‘Puppets’ was featured in the ICM Discoveries Spotify Playlist.

Pillow Queens have been churning out emotive DIY styled indie rock-pop anthems with an elegant and soft touch. Their most recent release ‘Brothers’ began the countdown toward their much anticipated debut album. The band say the track itself is about cherishing and loving the wonderful men in your life.

They said: “The lyrics in the verses show quick snapshots of the aftermath from a loss of a friend within a very tight knit group. An element of fear runs through the song as this sudden death makes you look around your group and feel terrified of the chances of another.”

Despite there no date confirmed for its release, looking forward the band will be at SXSW Festival and a little closer to home at It Takes A Village festival in Cork.

Listen to the single ‘Brothers’ and all of the other currently announced ICM Ones To Watch artists on our Spotify playlist! Every day this month we’ll add another band to the list.
