MAM Song of the Week: Café Aspen – ‘Sign of the Times’

Cafe Aspen

Barnsley’s Café Aspen is bringing a dark-edged indie to the South Yorkshire scene with their latest single ‘Sign of the Times’.

The new release has a heavier, darker side to it, with some almost grungey riffs and a distorted, often reverb-soaked vocal which paints a picture of a disjointed modern society.

The track delves into themes of uncertainty, as the band discuss: “It outlines various aspects of life; a generation that’s stuck in a trance & can’t seem to do anything about it. Longing for answers in a society where poor craftsmanship can be hailed as monumental. This is a ‘Sign of the Times’.

Café Aspen plays the Modern Age Music stage at Tramlines fringe on July 19th, joining the likes of Strange Bones, Sisteray, Dirty Orange & more at Record Junkee.
