Singapore-based Melbourne-born artist Latchy

Singapore-based Australian artist Latchy shares third single ‘Soda Dream’ following a whirlwind couple of months.

The talented singer-songwriter Lachie Stanley earned radio play and rave reviews following his Triple J DIYSupergroup entry ‘Stuck’. This really put him on the map in his home country Australian, particularly in Melbourne.

This came hot on the heels of Latchy’s first release for 2020 titled ‘Jacuzzi’ which was supported with live shows in the heady days when that was still possible.

‘Soda Dream’ is a hit of sugary pop to help you escape the world’s current woes. Fusing electronic pop with alternative snippets, Latchy creates music that’s soulful and lush nostalgic pop.

Created as an exercise in lockdown under collaboration recorded between three countries with by Melbourne musician stalwart Kyle Goulding (Kilo). The original track laid down by Latchy in Singapore before live bass was provided by Kyle.

“This song took on a life of its own once I got Kyle and Jack involved and it was amazing to be able to bounce off the guys,” Latchy said. “These are people who are really part of our scene.

“You’ve probably seen them play if you’ve been out to watch live music in Melbourne in the last three years. So it’s been really fun to try new things and work together remotely given none of us are able to play together live at the moment.”

Long-time collaborator Jack Arentz (Haxx, Kult Kyss) provided more production in Melbourne before it was sent off to the US for mastering with Huntley Miller (Bon Iver, Zedd).
