Manchester indie pop act Girl Friend have announced that they are to split with immediate effect.
The troupe, fronted by sibilings Amory and Eleanor Neish – Melling, revealed in a Facebook post on Friday evening (March 10) that they are to cease working and touring together, and will be “starting separate projects in the near future”.
The surprise news comes just two months after the release of their latest EP ‘At This Time of Night’, which was described in a warm review by IndieCentralMusic as “a sweet little collection of fresh dance-pop”.
Girl Friend, best known for their tracks ‘Poison’ and ‘Monte Carlo’, and once featured as The Guardian’s ‘New Band of the Week’, had been through several lineup changes since their formation in 2014, having started life as an all-male trio.
