DOLLS release riotous new single ‘Sugar Free’

DOLLS

Female duo DOLLS reveal new single ‘Sugar Free’ ahead of their new EP, ‘Pop The Bubble’.

Having spent the last year relentlessly gigging in and around the capital, they have spent the summer working with American drummer Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds) on the new EP.

Comprising Jade (guitar and vocals) and Bel (drums and vocals), their new single is a riotous example of their infectious grunge-punk. ‘Sugar Free’ screams infectious guitar riffs and the raw energy bouncing off Jade and Bel is harmonious.

The chemistry between the two of them captures their garage-pop anthems and ferocious live sets – their tracks have as much sass they have bite.

Drummer Bel explains about the track: “It was a spontaneous song that came out of Jade’s improvised guitar riff.

“When we were writing lyrics I had a sugar free drink and started thinking how people can get so pissed off when they ask for diet coke and get regular.

“So it represents those kind of first world problems & concerns about how our worst nightmare could be something so shallow that it’s just ridiculous”.

The ‘Pop The Bubble EP’ will be released by iconic soundtrack labels Mondo/Death Waltz on a beautiful limited edition multi-coloured and etched vinyl LP and digital. The band launch the EP at Rough Trade East with an instore show on Monday 24th September.

Live Dates:
Sept 24 – Rough Trade East, London
