Discover The 101: Catchy Scottish synth pop

the 101

Young Scottish Indie-Pop band, The 101, have released their track ‘Statues’, which joins a collection of incredible genre-reinforcing bangers.

Drawing influence from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Bad Suns, Fickle Friends and Passion Pit – the band have consistently produced a body of work which has secured them a name for themselves both locally and nationally since their formation in 2017.

Having already become familiar amongst the Scottish live music scene, the band performed to a packed hometown show in ‘The Lemon Tree’, Aberdeen’s most prestigious live music venue. Furthermore, they’ve supported the likes of Texas, Fickle Friends, Fatherson and Gengahr across the country which has seen them secure a committed fan-base.

The track ‘Statues’ mixes a thrashing guitar soundscape with nods to electronic and synth production layering behind rich vocals and catchy lyrics. Its energy builds throughout the song leaving you reaching to replay the song once you come to the end. It is definitely one that will get stuck in your head but for completely the right reasons.

You can check the song out here and if you are interested, the band have a host of live shows and festival appearances in 2019 where you are certain to be in for a treat.
