Discover Nottingham’s D.I.D

D.I.D

For my first delve into the world of music journalism, I thought it would only be fair to give a shout out to the very first band that I saw at one of my favourite venues, The Bodega in their hometown of Nottingham. These local lads from West Bridgeford released their first album ‘All Our Favourite Stories’ in 2012 following one of their biggest breaks on the BBC introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2010. At The Bodega, they played a relatively short set of six songs, including ‘Young’ and ‘Lion Cub’.

In 2015, they released their EP ‘Fast Food’ before releasing their second album ‘The State We’re In’ in 2016. To celebrate the release of their second album, they performed on a couple of dates at the beginning of December in Nottingham and London. Their sound could be described as upbeat indie-pop, with titles such as Glockenspiel Song being an ideal addition to your summer playlist; I would strongly recommend fans of bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club to give them a listen.

Unfortunately, D.I.D (previously acting under Dog Is Dead) has not announced any upcoming tour dates however, those attending the 110 Above Festival in Leicestershire will have the opportunity to see them perform at the beginning of August this year and I would definitely suggest doing so as they are excellent live performers, creating a calming yet euphoric atmosphere. So if you’re interested in discovering some smaller indie bands or just simply looking for some new songs to expand your summer playlist, D.I.D could be the band for you.
