Dayweaver capture cinematic ambients in synth-driven alt pop-rock

Drenched in ambient synth-driven alternative rock-pop, Netherlands’ Dayweaver deliver their new EP ‘S01E01-5’.

Based in Utrecht, members Marcel Young, John “Maître” Nomski, Yari Inzaghi and Allie Osha kicked off their project in 2020 with a focus on sonic samples and solid beats.

With the debut single ‘Swear’ commencing season 1, Dayweaver have a soaring cinematic sound as electronic beats boom and synths ticker-tater their way through a tunnel pinging back off the walls as they travel. Marcel’s deep and effortless vocals provide an essence of mystery and discovery.

Taking samples of late 90s video games, (bonus points if you can recognise which – I think it could be Super Mario or some sort of Hentai-inspired game) lead single ‘Bloodman’ invites you to don rose-tinted glasses and reminisce with addictive melancholic hooks

‘Right on the Money’ picks up the tempo electronically and vocally as Marcel’s distorted voice talks about those 4AM moments when you find yourself with your best friends outside of the venue, torn on whether to catch an after or try to find something to eat.

Part-inspired by the novel A Little Life by author Hanya Yanagihara, ‘Hurricane’ was written about a couple who are facing the challenge of deciding whether or not to try and have children.

Final track off the debut EP, ‘Ordinarily’ talks about the flipside of having children and consider how far they’re willing to go to see the other succeed. It’s a warming and embracing number that makes you want to put everything behind you and find a place to go to somewhere you really desire.

Dayweaver wrote and recorded S01E01-5 in their bedrooms and attics. The quartet are making anthemic synth and electronic-driven alternative music with cinematic atmospherics and soundscapes. Through monthly releases of new music and accompanying Karaoke videos, the band will have season 2 ready in no time.
