Dancing On Tables – CloseUp Artist Spotlight

We knew our first Artist Spotlight for our lovely friends at IndieCentralMusic simply had to be a showstopper.

So ahead of our London show next month, we sat down with Scotland’s Dancing On Tables to talk through what’s coming next for the 4-piece, and of course the upcoming show at Hoxton Square Bar!

Dancing On Tables Interview

You guys recently sold out infamous Glasgow venue King Tuts, how was that as an experience?!

It was my favourite gig I’ve played so far. I spent my teens going to Glasgow to watch my favourite bands at Tuts, and you can see on the stairs the world-famous acts that have played there, so to sell it out ourselves was an amazing feeling.

You head to London to play for CloseUp next month, are you big fans of playing in the big smoke?

Definitely. Playing in London in a relatively new thing for us as we only played our first headline show at the end of last year. We spend time down there outside of playing, but it’s great to be able to play new venues and to new people when we go down.

What should we expect from your return to London at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen?

We make sure our shows are energetic and fun to be at. We have a few new tracks to play that haven’t been released yet, and a few other surprises planned.

Your tunes have been listened to by millions across the world your Spotify informs us, Spotify is now such a big player in the industry, how important do you think it is for upcoming acts?

I’d say every act needs Spotify to break through, you can’t underestimate its influence. We have become a lot more aware of how helpful Spotify can be in growing your fan base – we even had two fans at our King Tuts show that had travelled from Latvia to see us! It’s how I discover all the new acts that I listen to.

Finally, we’ve been big fans of you at CloseUp & ICM, and we can’t wait for new music, what’s the latest you can tell us?

We are putting new music out in the next couple of weeks, with a new EP on the way too. We have spent the last couple of months recording and are itching to get it out to there
