This week, live promotor, booking agent and record label CLOSEUP chat with Brighton electro-pop artist Salt Ashes as she returns to the capital for a show tomorrow night!

Salt Ashes, it’s a pleasure, we’re such big fans of your music! You return to London for your biggest headline yet in June at Hoxton SBK, what should we expect?

Expect to be taken on a journey through weirdness, wonder and pure fucking dancing.

You’ve been working w/ NYC’s ‘Radikal’ records, how did this come about, and how is it all going?

They saw my first single that I put out in Record of The Day a few years back and have been working with them every since. We have a great working relationship which is hard to come by I think.

Your tunes have been listened to by hundreds of thousands across the world as Spotify informs us, Spotify is now such a big player in the industry, how important do you think it is for acts?

I mean, everyone and there mum is streaming from there or Apple Music now so it’s vital. I kinda wish it wasn’t and we were still in the borrowing your mates CD phase but here we are.

If you created a Salt Ashes Festival, and could pick 3 headliners, who would you go for?!

Chemical Brothers, Bjork and Spice Girls. Weird lineup. Love it.

Will there be new music for us to hear soon, possibly even next at our show?

YES AND YES!

Salt Ashes will play CLOSEUP’s Hoxton Square show tomorrow (June 14). Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £8 via Ticketweb here.
