Circa Waves unveil details on latest EP

Circa Waves have announced details of the ‘What’s That Left Over There?’ EP, a companion piece to the band’s third studio album.

Released today, the EP offers fans a chance to hear two songs that the band’s ever-prolific songwriter Kieran Shudall completed at the tail end of the album writing sessions.

Whilst never fitting within the sonic palette of ‘What’s It Like Over There?’, the new songs were deemed too good – ‘Hunters’ is a beautifully low key, understated piece, showcasing another side to Shudall’s songwriting prowess, whilst ‘Something More’ rolls along, building on an introspective wave of warm new wave synths.

‘What’s That Left Over There?’ is a great addition to a hugely successful album campaign for the Liverpool four-piece, one that has seen them achieve their joint highest UK album chart position, whilst continuing to cement their reputation as a must-see live band, and sell tickets by the bucketload.

Last weekend (August 23rd) they played to one of the biggest crowds of the weekend on the second stage at Reading & Leeds. The EP also offers the chance to hear two stripped back versions of  former singles ‘The Way We Say Goodbye’ and ‘Times Won’t Change Me’.

Kieran Shudall says: “Here are a couple of tunes that we felt a little too laid back to have on the main record but we still adored them and wanted the music to be released into the ether.

“We also reworked ‘Times Won’t Change Me’ into an acoustic wonder and ‘The Way We Say Goodbye’ into a piano ballad, both of which you can enjoy whilst crying into your cornflakes.”
