Bokito return with their most mature single yet

London quintet Bokito return in their danceable indie pop fashion with the release of ‘Colleen Bawn’.

The unsigned band has had a transformative 12 months which saw them release two singles; the thunderous ‘Love Gotten’ and the infectiously loopy ‘How Dare You’.

New number ‘Colleen Bawn’ delves deeper into the tropical pop world with dazzling guitar flicks and undoubtedly their most mature single yet. ‘Colleen Bawn’ adds to their growing and ever more accomplished back catalogue of tropical indie tunes.

Espousing notions of the inevitable internal struggle that accompanies personal growth with tightly-packed melodies, this uplifting track is driven by its rumbling bassline, sharp beat and dancing guitar licks; all wrapped up in the keys that makes it impossible to play just once.

Speaking to the motivation behind Colleen Bawn, Bokito said: “The Colleen Bawn is an Irish play by Dion Boucicault which is full to the brim with love and lies and sat with secrets. I thought it fitted nicely with the themes of the song.

“The lyrics are all about fooling yourself in a relationship. Whether it be that the relationship can work or that it is doomed before you really try, Colleen Bawn is something that I, and I feel some previous partners, have done at some stage to either salvage or sabotage something that we had and as a result, trapping ourselves in a sort of middle ground because no one can use the real truth as leverage to wedge themselves out.”
