Birthday Card mix 80s pop with ethereal hip hop

Newcomers Birthday Card have shared their new futuristic alt pop single ‘Talk Talk’.

The Aylesbury-based five-piece follow on from their debut single ‘Shy Away’ which was pure 80s indie pop with shimmering beats and groovy bass.

The new cut ‘Talk Talk’ throws in some autotuned rap into the mix as the hybrid single weaves between the sweetness of the ethereal soundscapes and the smooth honey coated melodies.

“As the title suggests, the song is about speaking to one another, and through that growing as people and learning how to forgive,” says frontman Josh Saw. “Musically, we wanted to something unique to tell the story to; there’s trap influences in the verses, whereas the choruses are pure pop ballad.”

‘Talk Talk’ was released at the beginning of the month on Notting Hill Arts Club Recordings in December last year. Both songs were produced by Mike Spencer (Jamiroquai, Kylie Minogue, Tom Walker).
