AVNT GARDS return with smooth and mellow track ‘These Things’

Leicester rock outfit AVNT GARDS returned with their new single ‘These Things’ since the release of their debut EP.
The four-piece, comprised of Cairen Dheensa (Guitar, Vocals), Rashik Aryal (Lead guitar), Aran Tattar (Bass) and Tom O’Callaghan (Drums, Vocals), were nominated for ‘Greatest Discovery’ at the 2019 for really putting their name on the map for EP ‘I Didn’t Branch Out Into Horror Until Much Later On’.
For new cut ‘These Things’, AVNT GARDS have taken their typical electrifying and punchy style of 90s rock down a notch to create a smooth, free-flowing indie number you can easily chill out to.
Speaking about the track, the band said: “It’s got a really mellow vibe. The lyrics started with some lines Cai created about (and during) a particularly aggressive bout of insomnia, which tied in with some lyrics of mine. I think it hooks in to that angsty, yet chilled feeling you can get in the early hours – big questions floating round your head.
“The track came together really collaboratively. We all chipped in with different parts to create something that held together with a similar feel throughout. Then Ryan (Pinson – RML Studios) stitched them together really nicely.
“There’s a vintage sound in there, from the way the percussion was recorded, right through to the Leslie speaker in the outro and the Beach Boys-esque backing vocal. The outro has a kind of lilting, trippy feel. It’s a nice resolution but also kind of uneasy – I think that feeling really sums the track up.”
