Basement Strippers produce blistering and captivating alt rock
Bedford-based rockers Basement Strippers have just dropped new single ‘Throw Me An Anchor’.
Since the alt rock band formed in 2017, the outfit has gone from strength to strength on every release with their anthemic tunes.
Comprised of Jamie Gilman-Lewis (Lead Vocals, Bass Guitar), Bayley McNamee (Guitar), William Gilman-Lewis (Keyboards) and Lucas Hammond (Drums), Basement Strippers produce a relentless mix of blistering and captivating rock.
‘Throw Me An Anchor’ starts softly but quickly erupts into a ball of rhythmic fire. The song has a catchy chorus that sticks with the listener throughout the song, has some unorthodox chord and key changes, and powerful pumping drums that drive the track forward.
Thrown into the mix is a neatly decorated Enter Shikari-inspired synth line that pushes through the top of the mix. ‘Throw Me An Anchor’ is rounded out with a powerful and emotional vocal performance from frontman Jamie.
Written long before the pandemic lockdown, Basement Strippers realised the poignance of the lyrics for a lot of those who may have struggled either physically or mentally during the quarantine.
The song leans heavily into themes of being lost at sea, and desperately trying to cling onto something solid. ‘Throw Me An Anchor’ is an anthem to say that those who have struggled are not alone and although it may be a hard time now, there is hope on the other side.
The band aim to leave a long-lasting impression on their audiences through their tracks and they also put the effort in on stage. Wearing smart clothes on stage and bringing a refreshing mixture of indie, alt-rock, punk, grunge and electronic into their songs, the Basement Strippers are constantly reinventing and outdoing themselves whilst surprising and captivating people all up and down the country.
