Singer-songwriter Verner Calvin has embarked on a new solo project and has produced debut single ‘Beauty Queen’.

The Tampa, Florida-born artist grew up being the son of a glam rock guitarist father, which undoubtedly set that spark alight to pursue Verner’s own musical adventure.

The musician moved to Taiwan to study Chinese and where he met his girlfriend Anna – who you can hear on ‘Beauty Queen’.

Soon after meeting the duo created a project titled Violet Lens where they made three releases using a blend of Eastern and Western perspectives.

Verner Calvin and his new project is a raw and melodic whilst incorporating his past, travels, and musical influences from Andy Shauf to The Smashing Pumpkins.

‘Beauty Queen’ is a soothing and soulful track as both vocals soar over the melody; it’s a track that is perfect for a late night drive.

This new number is set to be part of a five-song EP including title track ‘Grey Oranges’ pulling you in with melodic hooks and driving grooves with a warm catchy edge.

Produced by Andrew Goldring in Nashville, TN, and mastered by Phil Bova (Feist, Land of Talk, Andy Shauf) the EP’s diverse and organic sounds highlight his soft spot for humble music and lyrics. It’s due July 31st.
